AfroDutch News Anchor: Simone Weimans
Simone Weimans is a black TV news anchor working in The Netherlands with the Dutch NOS channel. Weimans career with the station started on June 15th 2011. In addition to that, she is also working in a radio program known as the De Gids.FM on Radio 1 and has a segment on social media and the the internet known as "tijdgeest". She was working on the radio program before she got her TV anchor job at NOS.
Weimans started her broadcasting career as a radio journalist and worked for the Radio Netherlands Worldwide while she was studying Communication Science at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She graduated in 1998 and began working for VARA, a Dutch public broadcasting station. She worked on several programs on public Radio 1, 2 as well as 5. She also worked on a program known as De heer Ontwaakt (The Lord Awakens) on Radio 2
Simone was born in Rotterdam on November 23rd 1971 and has a sister that is a fashion designer, Marga Weimans.
Simone Weimans is the third black news anchor for the NOS since 1965.The second AfroDutch news anchor to work the channel was Noraly Beyer, she left the channel in 2008.
